Halloween decorations were rolled out weeks ago, but the first of October always feels like the official start of the season to me. This week, horror is yours for the taking! Tonight is your last night to check out Contemporary Youth Arts Company’s Jack the Ripper, 8 pm at the Capitol Center Theater.
The Milton Pumpkin Festival kicks off this Thursday, October 6, at Pumpkin Park and will continue until Sunday. The most badass event on the schedule? Three Rivers Avian Center will be there with their ‘Birds of Prey’ from 9 am to 6 pm opening day and closing day. The tastiest event? Pumpkin fudge, available every day.
Anime/Manga conference Tsubasacon returns to Huntington, WV, this Friday, October 7. Elle and I will be appearing as Dr. Sketchy’s spokesmodels – draw us!
This week also kicks off Park Place Cinema’s Flashback Film Series October edition, with none other than 1960′s Psycho. Showings are 4 pm Sunday, October 2, and 4 pm and 7 pm Monday, October 3. Tickets are a mere five bucks a pop, the most boo for your buck you’ll get in this town. Stay scared, friends!

I beg to differ on the tastiest event at the Pumpkin Festival. It HAS to be the Pumpkin Ice Cream. Mmmmmmm, Ice Cream!
