A Tearful Farewell to Constance

Now that the chaos of Christmas is finally over, I can get back to doing the difficult, important things…like finally watching the season finale of American Horror Story.

I’m not sure how I feel about this finale episode.  A lot of ground was covered and many loose ends were sort of tied up.  It seemed like a bit of a mashup and a rush to finish the season.  More on that later….

So douchebag Ben is all alone in the house because the ghosties don’t really want anything to do with him anymore.  Vivien and Moira bond.  I love Moira.  Constance doesn’t want to give the baby back to Ben.  Ben wants to kill himself but Vivien and Violet appear and convince him not to.  Unfortunately for him, Hayden has other plans.  I kind of love her too.  Anywho, the family is reunited and all the interpersonal problems of their lives have disappeared in death.

Nora can’t handle motherhood so Vivien gets one of her babies back and Constance has demon baby tucked away in her house.  The bigoted real estate agent manages to lure another family into purchasing the house, but the good ghosts work together to scare them away with a good old-fashioned haunting.  Tate is kind of crazy…over Violet; he tries to work things out with Ben but to no avail.  The now happy Harmons enjoy Christmas together with their baby and Moira, the baby’s godmother.  Just goes to show that true happiness is found in death.

Cut to three years later:  Constance realizes she really was meant for greatness…demonchild is meant for greatness and she is there to guide him and share her wisdom.  Good thing, since he brutally murdered his babysitter.

Apparently, the creators really had to get all of the loose ends tied up all neat and shit because next season will be a completely different ballgame.  New house, new haunting, new cast.  I was a wee bit irritated with the happiness of the finale but I understand the kind of epilogue feel it had.  I am anticipating the next season in a major way; I think this direction will keep the show fresh and exciting.  However, I am going to miss Constance.  She is my favorite bitch.

I just have one thing to say to Ryan Murphy and crew:  Do not fuck this up.

Cheers!

Filled with a love of all things horror and a passion for the arts, I am often knee-deep in multiple projects. When I'm not blogging and spreading the gospel of Burly Q, I can be found making art, working on plays, and keeping Charleston's thriving horror community alive. Although I usually work behind the scenes, you can occasionally catch me basking in the glow of the spotlight. However, I hear snipe sightings are more common.

  1. Well, really, how can they introduce this anti-christ demon child and not keep us at least a little bit informed about what happens to him? I think we’ll be seeing him some more, and that probably means seeing Constance again, too. They’ve already said they’re bringing back some of the same actors…hmm…we’ll see. She’s going to have to take that baby and run somewhere now that she knows he is a murderous little monster; that at least opens it up for Constance to at least be around in whatever town the next season is set in. We can hope!
