Here’s Your Chance to be Evil – and Dead!

Kanawha Players Theater is calling all zombies! If you have a set of pipes and an inappropriate love for Bruce Campbell, come on down to the Evil Dead auditions!

All you have to do is show up at 309 Beauregard Street this weekend and sing. Don’t have a karaoke tape or a piano player handy? No worries! Just belt out your favorite rocknroll song for the nice people at Kanawha Players this Saturday August 4 from 5pm-9pm, or Sunday August 5 from 12pm-4pm. You’ll have to try to perform a few simple dance steps as well, but don’t be scared. YET. Mwahahahaha!

The show is slated to run October 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th, and we’re sure it’s gonna be a horrorful start to everyone’s favorite season!

Our dear friend Adam Edwards shot the first scenes of Atomic Beast Studios ‘Flesh Rot’ (working title), an epic genre-spanning web series, nearly a month ago on June 23. I love Adam and I love WV horror, so I was there in my official capacity as wardrobe madam and PA, pestering the makeup team, painting tentacles and generally having a grand old time. Pepper Fandango and Penny Maple finally have a little something something to share with all our friends who have missed our burlesque dance shows around Charleston, WV! Thanks to Mr. Chase Henderson, local Dr. Sketchy’s mad professor, who recorded our new burly-q act when we opened for Dangerous Curves Ahead: Burlesque on the Go-Go at Charleston, WV’s world-famous Empty Glass. Chase thinks the video could have turned out better, but we love it! It was a packed show in a tiny venue and Chase did a fantastic job of capturing our particular brand of frenetic, messy burlesque dance – and you should tell him so!

Drummer Dave Roberts and bassist Andy Jones didn’t get a chance to practice with us beforehand, but you couldn’t tell, could you? I hope it’s not the last time they join us on stage!

Charleston’s Burlesque Revival has been gestating since winter, and by my calculations should be crowning sometime late next month.

Who do we have to blame for this delicious descent into hedonism? It might seem like Pepper and I are guilty as sin, but I think we can trace it to Chase Henderson, local Dr. Sketchy’s mad professor. Sketchy’s, for the uninitiated, is a burlesque figure drawing class, and Chase has been hinting from the beginning that he wouldn’t mind some real live burlesquing at our monthly art class. Next Friday, December 30th, grab a sixer and head down to Kanawha Players Theater and start celebrating New Year’s a full 24 hours earlier than usual! Dr. Sketchy’s Charleston is hosting a super sexxxy burlesque troupe from Brooklyn, NY! Dangerous Curves Ahead: Burlesque on the Go-Go will swing through Charleston on the Winter Mini Tour, and if you miss it, you’ll just have to kill yourself. At 8 pm, an hour-long mini-Sketchy’s will take place, so bring your charcoals and cameras! At 9 pm, get ready to see the show of your life! Anita Cookie, Clams Casino, Darlinda Just Darlinda, Gi Gi La Femme and Minnie Tonka will bump and grind and rock your socks for a fantastical two hours! BYOB and expect to see a few familiar faces, as Sketchy’s models Pepper Fandango, Penny Maple and Molly Tilly do a little of the song-and-dance too! Tickets are $15, a link is coming!
