Flesh Rot: New WV Horror Web Series Kicks off with Sexy Zombies!

Penny Maple Rea Gunne Ashley Metheney Zombie Girls

Jaclyn Policastro, Rea Gunne, Ashley Metheney and Penny Maple are famous. Original photos by Robert Saunders, photo of photos by Cindy Keeney-Negley.

Our dear friend Adam Edwards shot the first scenes of Atomic Beast Studios ‘Flesh Rot’ (working title), an epic genre-spanning web series, nearly a month ago on June 23.  I love Adam and I love WV horror, so I was there in my official capacity as wardrobe madam and PA, pestering the makeup team, painting tentacles and generally having a grand old time.  Not to give too much away, but some stars went off to the location to get intimate with the aforementioned tentacles and I turned into a zombie (that’s so Penny, I know!) July’s Slim Horror Pickin’s

Red Lights (2012) – Image from Wikipedia

If you are one of the lucky freaks with a theater showing one or more of the following movies…I might be a wee bit jealous of you. Our horror options for the month of July all have a limited theatrical release. And, when you live in a town whose theaters generally only play the same widely released movie on four different screens, it’s hard to catch those gems. We might get to see these on the big screen in a few months, but I’ll refrain from holding my breath. Continue Reading →

June ‘Horror’ Movie Happenings

Ahhhh sweet summer. Stifling heat, crowded pools filled with pee, farmer’s tans, no school, and…apparently…nothing worth watching in theaters–not in the horror department anyway. It’s a well-known fact that I despise summer, unlike my wayward cohorts. It is by far my least favorite season and I dread it every year. When I was a kid, I would spend nearly my whole summer at the movies, escaping the suffocating heat and humidity to watch any movie that even remotely caught my interest.

Unfortunately, even if I wanted to hang out at the movies these days, it’d most likely be a waste of time for the horror freak within. There just simply is not a very good selection for horror fans in the summer, a reality I forget about every year and thus face disappointment annually.

There are a few options for horror fans in theaters right now, with a couple more being released later this month. I wouldn’t exactly call these ‘horror’ movies but they may give us a little thrill. Continue Reading →

Fiery Beltane

Bonfire, Beltane, Luna L'Enfant, Erin Creelman

Bonfire Celebration! Photo by: Luna L'Enfant

April showers bring May flowers….with the help of the pagan celebration of Beltane. The ritual of Beltane, though varied to suit each culture’s needs and beliefs, has been around for quite some time–before the days of zombie Jesus. Beltane is a fertility festival usually involving great bonfires, high sexual energy, maypole dances, and feasting.

Now, I don’t have a maypole to dance around, but I sure can celebrate with a big fire, some naughty fun, and tasty food. This is a ritual Mr. L’Enfant can definitely enjoy.

How are you celebrating the fertility of Spring?
