Oh hai guise! We’ve been knee deep in preparations for a badass horror and sci-fi convention–Shockacon–here in good ole West Virginia. It’s our Mountain State’s first convention of a horrorful nature and of course we’re going to be there!
The fun begins at 10 p.m. at WV’s world famous Empty Glass. Head on out for a good time!
Kanawha Players Theater is calling all zombies! If you have a set of pipes and an inappropriate love for Bruce Campbell, come on down to the Evil Dead auditions!
All you have to do is show up at 309 Beauregard Street this weekend and sing. Don’t have a karaoke tape or a piano player handy? No worries! Just belt out your favorite rocknroll song for the nice people at Kanawha Players this Saturday August 4 from 5pm-9pm, or Sunday August 5 from 12pm-4pm. You’ll have to try to perform a few simple dance steps as well, but don’t be scared. YET. Mwahahahaha!
The show is slated to run October 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th, and we’re sure it’s gonna be a horrorful start to everyone’s favorite season!
This week on Exorcast it's our Exploitation Extravaganza episode! We review Able Ferrara's classic rape revenge film Ms. 45, Reinert Kiil's Norwegian I Spit On Your Grave rip-off Hora (The Whore), Joseph Guzman's Nude Nuns With Big Guns and Don Edmonds naziploitation masterpiece Ilsa She Wolf of the SS! We also deliver Last Rites to one of Vincent's favorite Jess Franco films, Female Vampire.
Our dear friend Adam Edwards shot the first scenes of Atomic Beast Studios ‘Flesh Rot’ (working title), an epic genre-spanning web series, nearly a month ago on June 23. I love Adam and I love WV horror, so I was there in my official capacity as wardrobe madam and PA, pestering the makeup team, painting tentacles and generally having a grand old time. Not to give too much away, but some stars went off to the location to get intimate with the aforementioned tentacles and I turned into a zombie (that’s so Penny, I know!) Continue Reading →
If you are one of the lucky freaks with a theater showing one or more of the following movies…I might be a wee bit jealous of you. Our horror options for the month of July all have a limited theatrical release. And, when you live in a town whose theaters generally only play the same widely released movie on four different screens, it’s hard to catch those gems. We might get to see these on the big screen in a few months, but I’ll refrain from holding my breath. Continue Reading →
Ahhhh sweet summer. Stifling heat, crowded pools filled with pee, farmer’s tans, no school, and…apparently…nothing worth watching in theaters–not in the horror department anyway. It’s a well-known fact that I despise summer, unlike my wayward cohorts. It is by far my least favorite season and I dread it every year. When I was a kid, I would spend nearly my whole summer at the movies, escaping the suffocating heat and humidity to watch any movie that even remotely caught my interest.
Unfortunately, even if I wanted to hang out at the movies these days, it’d most likely be a waste of time for the horror freak within. There just simply is not a very good selection for horror fans in the summer, a reality I forget about every year and thus face disappointment annually.
There are a few options for horror fans in theaters right now, with a couple more being released later this month. I wouldn’t exactly call these ‘horror’ movies but they may give us a little thrill. Continue Reading →
April showers bring May flowers….with the help of the pagan celebration of Beltane. The ritual of Beltane, though varied to suit each culture’s needs and beliefs, has been around for quite some time–before the days of zombie Jesus. Beltane is a fertility festival usually involving great bonfires, high sexual energy, maypole dances, and feasting.
Now, I don’t have a maypole to dance around, but I sure can celebrate with a big fire, some naughty fun, and tasty food. This is a ritual Mr. L’Enfant can definitely enjoy.
How are you celebrating the fertility of Spring?
Those horrorfully creative folks at Razor Sharp Studios are at it again with the final installment of the Porkchop trilogy, Porkchopp3d. Fresh from spreading some backwoods horror love with the screening of Porkchops at Blood on the Beach, Razor Sharp Studios is releasing the much awaited trailer for Porkchopp3d at The Empty Glass in Charleston, WV tonight! The party doesn’t stop there; past trailers, music videos, and short films will also be screened. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Renfields! Plus…Food! Alcohol!! This is an event you won’t want to miss.
The cover charge is only $7 unless you are wearing a Razor Sharp, Porkchop, Porkchops, Porkchopp3d, or Zombie Babies t-shirt–then it’s only $5. Quite a bargain for a kickass party! So put on your party hats and prepare for some gory 3D fun. Don’t worry, 3D glasses are provided. The only thing missing is you!
Tonight, at The Empty Glass in Charleston, 10 p.m., be there.
