The Burning: Slashtastic 80′s Horror

The Burning (1981) - Wikipedia.org

The Burning (1981) – Wikipedia.org

Lately I’ve had the kind of craving that only a good slasher flick can satisfy. To give myself some relief, I went through quite a few flicks that hold special places in my heart, but no dice. I needed something new and fresh–to me anyway–so I decided to put my feelers out to find the perfect release.

I turned to the social mediaverse for help and consistently received the recommendation of The Burning. I couldn’t say no to a suggestion from those whose cinematic tastes are strikingly similar to mine, and believe me, I was not disappointed. Continue Reading →

Slithered Right Into My Heart!

Slither (2006) Photo credit: Wikipedia

Due to my former aversion to creature features, I was a little slow in getting around to watching Slither. Even knowing it was a firmly tongue-in-cheek flick, it took me far too long. So I’m a procrastinator–these things happen. Continue Reading →

Date Night with The Tall Man

The Tall Man – IMDB.com

Date night at home can sometimes be a difficult undertaking. The man and I were craving some good horror fun and cuddles the other night so we turned to Redbox. After searching through every movie the box had to offer, we couldn’t really find anything we could agree on. After my absolute refusal to settle for something else, i.e. The Dictator (not really my cuppa), we decided to ask our trusty pal Netflix for some help. Continue Reading →

The Cabin in the Woods…An Amusing Retreat

The Cabin in the Woods – IMDB.com

What would you do if the fate of the world rested on ensuring a proper sacrifice? That’s a question Joss Whedon (Television’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) seek to answer in their collaboration The Cabin in the Woods. Continue Reading →

It’s not so new, this zombie shuffle…

Dearest Horror Fans,

I must most sincerely apologize for the prolonged hiatus. Life has been a bit chaotic for us Wayward Girls. Penny and Elle have been deeply involved with the wonderful Dr. Sketchy’s and Penny is also working wardrobe magic for the latest installment in the Porkchop franchise. I have been extremely busy with the hunting for and purchasing of a new home and thanks to that generally horrorful process, I haven’t had much time to devote to my special love, all things horror.  Continue Reading →

So Many Judgement Days, So Little Time

11/11/11 -IMDB.com

Sometimes I like to watch a movie not because it looks great but because it looks ridiculously terrible.  I’m sure you have noticed this by now.  You can imagine my happiness when I stumbled upon 11/11/11–an upbeat tale of a devil child and his upcoming birthday which is set to bring about the apocalypse. How could I pass this gem up?  I simply couldn’t. Continue Reading →

A Zombie In Your Stocking!

Silent Night, Zombie Night -IMDB.com

After the stress of the Holidays, I like to unwind with a cheesy Holiday horror flick.  Hulu provided me with the perfect offering:  Silent Night, Zombie Night.  The lure of a Santa Zombie pulled me right in; this was going to be quality entertainment. Continue Reading →

A Tearful Farewell to Constance

IMDB.com

Now that the chaos of Christmas is finally over, I can get back to doing the difficult, important things…like finally watching the season finale of American Horror Story.

I’m not sure how I feel about this finale episode.  A lot of ground was covered and many loose ends were sort of tied up.  It seemed like a bit of a mashup and a rush to finish the season.  More on that later…. Continue Reading →
