This weekend, Elle and I got an inside peek at CharCon 2011, a mysterious and fascinating place full of grown-ups playing dress-up together; naturally, it’s a perfect fit for Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School. Continue Reading →

If that’s not your thing, it seems Applebee’s is hosting a costume contest as well, with the ubiquitous drink specials, 6 pm to close. Isn’t Wednesday too early in the workweek to usher in the slutty costumes? Continue Reading →

A Horrorful Sketchy’s Contest!
Here’s our little friend from last weekend with his fresh coat of paint! If you were at Dr. Sketchy’s Halloween Edition this Sunday, maybe you spotted him. If you have a picture or a sketch with Bronzeskull here, let us know, and you’ll be featured in a horrorful Q&A! But wait! There’s more! You will be treated to a drink by at least two Wayward Girls, and Penny will read your palm!
Last Sunday was the Halloween edition of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School featuring our very own Penny and Elle with the lovely Lavender Menace as zombie pin-ups devouring their helpless victim, Sarkany. Being a fan of both zombies and pin-ups, I was looking forward to an evening of sketching and fun.
Dr. Sketchy’s Halloween Edition: Zombie Pin-Ups!
If I were smart, I would have taken a sexxay and clever teaser pic to accompany this article (my foot in the adorable Betsey Johnson heels I’m wearing at Dr. Sketchy’s tomorrow, decapitated from my jeans and rumpled t-shirt) but you’re going to have to settle for this little guy. He’s waiting for a fresh coat of paint and tomorrow, he’ll be part of the set. If you see him, take a picture and we’ll feature you in an awesome horrorful Q&A! Tomorrow, Penny and Elle appear as zombie pin-ups alongside Cait Cool! Together, they defeat and devour Sarkany! Come for the tits, stay for the intestines! It’s gonna be a ghoulish good time!
Upcoming Events: October 13-16
Guys and Ghouls, tomorrow is the debut of Dark Moon Sanctuary, Kanawha Players’ first haunted offering! Admission is $8, a dollar off with a non-perishable food item, and the show runs Thursday 7 pm to 10 p, Friday and Saturday 7 pm to 12am. If you want to act in the haunt, please show up an hour before doors open.
The Winfield Haunted Barn is open this Saturday as well! Tickets are $7, and the haunt comes highly recommended.
Before you leave Charleston for the Barn, head over to the West Side (Bigley Ave between Washington and Pennsylvania) and check out OktoberWest from 4 to 8 pm. Tickets are $25, but you get all the food and drinks you want – and trust me, you want this! Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale and Morgantown Brewery Octoberfest – and Miller Lite, if you prefer. The Poor Taters will be playing some music too, I hear.
Whenever you wake up on Sunday, get a good breakfast, grab your sketchbook and a sixer and head back to Kanawha Players for the monthly meeting of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School! Penny and Elle are appearing with the fabulous Cait Cool and Sarkany for a night of dames, drinking and drawing, with makeup fx by the sterling Adam Edwards and Sarkany. Art stars and noobs alike are welcome at the Zombie Pin-Up Extravaganza! $8 advance, $10 at the door!
