It’s almost time for all of the lucky children to gorge themselves on treats this Halloween season. Most towns around here are hosting trick or treat on October 30 from 6-8 pm, but Capitol Market and the Charleston Town Center Mall are having trick or treat tonight!!! Now is a good time to maximize your return on the money you shelled out for those lovely costumes and let the kids overdose on sugar. Continue Reading →

Box Office Thrills and Chills
October is a special month for us at horrorfullife.com. This should come as no surprise. The leaves are changing, Halloween décor is proudly displayed, and horror movies are taking over the box office. Continue Reading →
Is There Still Hope? Possibly…
First I must apologize for the lateness of this review. I’m not a big fan of watching television, I’m usually distracted by crafts, writing, reading, and taking walks. This past week has been a rather distracting week and I only just watched The Walking Dead and American Horror Story last night. And so, without further adieu…
The Great and Powerful All Hallows Eve!
In case it isn’t obvious, Halloween is like Christmas for us here at horrorfullife.com. And while gorging ourselves on candy and pretending to be something else is enjoyable, it’s really the folklore surrounding the holiday that earns our affections. Continue Reading →

This Halloween, Get Meta
This is the last week to enjoy Park Place Cinema’s FlashBack Film Series, Sunday at 4 pm and Monday at 4pm and 7 pm. There was a great turnout at last week’s offering, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, and I can’t wait to watch John Carpenter’s Halloween in a dark theater with Elle on October 31. I’ll see you there!
Upcoming Events: Oct 26-29
Oct. 26 The West Virginia Division of Culture and History will host a totally adorable Halloween Bash Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Culture Center, down at the State Capitol Complex. Apparently it’s free to all ghosties and ghouls, the local monsters and haunts of WV are gleefully celebrated, and fabulous prizes are available for the costume contest.
If that’s not your thing, it seems Applebee’s is hosting a costume contest as well, with the ubiquitous drink specials, 6 pm to close. Isn’t Wednesday too early in the workweek to usher in the slutty costumes? Continue Reading →
Read All Over
Martha Stewart’s Halloween Issue is characteristically G-rated, and this year’s offering feels a little low on substance. The Halloween treats spread was five pages’ worth of content spread into ten, for example, and the DIY haunted house decorations were more of the same. Still, Martha’s handmade crafts, bloodless as they are, rank decapitated head and shoulders above a bunch of mass-produced crap. Continue Reading →
